The Smugglers Tavern has a potted history in Fitzrovia… it’s been standing since 1798 in various forms and has seen many a smuggler, rogue or wretch through its doors. Indeed, the plot for the Great Train Robbery was supposedly hatched here. Famed F1 legend Bernie Ecclestone spent his formative years along Warren Street, ducking and diving in and out of The Smugglers.
More recently, though, The Smugglers Tavern was given a bit of a revamp by Tidalwave Bars, an independent pub group who at the time owned The Colonel Fawcett in Camden and have, more recently, added Sir Colin Campbell in Kilburn also.
The pub is laid back in comforting surroundings with a great soundtrack and friendly, inviting staff.
